Ghanaians are disappointed in NPP but are ashamed to speak - Yammin
A former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Joseph Yammin says Ghanaians, especially those in the Ashanti Region are very disappointed in President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's government.
According to Mr. Yammin, most Ghanaians are still lamenting because the change they hoped for is not what they are experiencing.
Contributing to a panel discussion on Adom TV’s morning show, Badwam, he said, “When you come to Kumasi, majority of the people are saying they regret voting for change.”
He said Ghanaians voted out the NDC in the December 2016 elections because they claimed they the suffering under the previous government was unbearable and also wanted constant power supply which they are not enjoying under the current administration as well.
“If you remember very well, before the December elections, Ghanaians were angry over dumsor and promised to punish the NDC in the elections. The dumsor that was the problem is still the problem,” he explained.
Mr. Yammin who is also a former Deputy Sports Minister said, even though the people are disappointed, they are not openly showing it for fear of being mocked by those who were against the change.
“In Kumasi when the light goes off these days, what you hear is ‘eeeeiii Nana Addo koraa he’s suffering to get us this light oo. The debt that has been left by the NDC is huge,” he said.
The change, he posited, is a very bad one, which is the reason Kofi Kinaata’s 'Confession' song has been remixed and can’t be sung in Kumasi.
“People are also complaining about prices of goods. Today cement which used to be GHC28 under the NDC government is GHC33 so the question is, is this change or what? They can’t say it now because they are shy but the time will come when they can’t hold it in,” he argued.
